Business Intelligence Analyst
A Business Intelligence analyst is a professional who works with businesses to help make sense of their data. They transform data into meaningful insights to make better business decisions. Simply put, they help businesses to visualize their data, to better understand KPI and key metrics. Such are well versed in SQL. Moreover, they have expertise in Spreadsheet Software like MS Excel and Google Sheets and Data Visualization Tools like Power BI and Tableau.
Data Analyst
A Data Analyst is a professional who works not only with Businesses but also with other types of organizations, like NGOs and Government organizations. They collaborate with Data Scientists and Data Engineers, to collect and analyze data identify patterns, and make sense of the data. The Data Analyst is often given a task by the Management, to answer key questions. Data Analyst then collect, transform, clean, and analyze the data, identify and visualize patterns, recommend key findings, and share them with the stakeholders.
A Data Analyst has adequate technical knowledge of Data and uses SQL, Spreadsheet Software like MS Excel and Google Sheets, SPSS, SSAS, Data Visualization Tools like Power BI and Tableau, and Programming Languages like R and Python.
Key Difference
BI analysts are concerned with business performance. They collaborate with the business management team in transforming business data into powerful insights that can help the business to improve performance. Whereas the Data analyst has to work with all sorts of organizations to perform in-depth analysis of Data. In simple words, the role of a Business Intelligence Analyst is concerned with business performance and the role of a Data Analyst is to perform a wider range of analytical operations related in general.
