A free illustrated ECG guide for medical students and doctors in training. Clinical cases, real ECGs and anatomical explanations connect the tracing with the underlying mechanism and its clinical meaning.
I developed Clinical Electrocardiography: A Case-Based Visual Guide to help medical students and doctors connect the appearance of an ECG with the electrical events taking place within the heart. My aim is to bring pattern recognition together with an understanding of anatomy, physiology and clinical presentation, making the subject easier to understand and remember.
The guide progresses from the foundations of ECG interpretation to more advanced topics, using clinical cases, real ECG examples and illustrated explanations. It encourages readers to ask three questions: What can I see? Why does it happen? What does it mean for this patient?
I have made the complete guide freely available as a resource for study, revision and teaching. I hope it provides a useful companion to clinical training and helps readers approach ECGs with greater confidence and curiosity. Feedback from learners and colleagues is welcome and will help inform future editions.
