Healthcare Leadership & Systems Improvement

Dr Qurban Hussain Khan currently serves as Medical Superintendent of Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, one of Pakistan’s major tertiary care cardiac centres. In this role, he contributes to the operational leadership, clinical governance, patient safety systems, and day-to-day coordination of a high-volume public-sector cardiac hospital.

His leadership work focuses on strengthening hospital systems so that specialist cardiac care can be delivered safely, efficiently, and consistently at scale. This includes coordination across clinical departments, nursing services, emergency care, diagnostic services, administrative teams, support services, and hospital-wide quality improvement structures.

As Medical Superintendent, Dr Khan is involved in institutional initiatives related to patient safety, infection prevention and control, emergency preparedness, clinical standards, service delivery, quality assurance, and hospital operations. His work supports the development of structured processes, improved accountability, and safer systems of care for patients, healthcare workers, and visitors.

He has also contributed to major institutional improvement efforts at Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology, including quality-standardization work, strengthening of infection prevention systems, emergency response preparedness, Code Blue systems, administrative coordination, and service-delivery improvement in a high-pressure tertiary cardiac environment.

Dr Khan’s leadership approach combines clinical understanding with administrative discipline. As a cardiac electrophysiologist and healthcare administrator, he brings a clinician’s insight into patient care together with a systems-based approach to hospital management. His focus is on practical execution, teamwork, governance, and continuous improvement.

His areas of leadership interest include:

  • Hospital operations and clinical governance
  • Patient safety and quality improvement
  • Infection prevention and control
  • Emergency preparedness and Code Blue systems
  • High-volume cardiac service delivery
  • Postgraduate training and academic development
  • Public-sector healthcare systems improvement
  • Institutional accountability and performance monitoring

Through his administrative and clinical roles, Dr Qurban Hussain Khan aims to support modern, safe, efficient, and patient-centred cardiovascular care while contributing to the long-term strengthening of healthcare institutions in Pakistan
